2014 Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso

Smoke, volcanic ash, bright cherry, cranberry with a little of the barnyard – manure and hay – on the savory, meaty, mouthwatering nose.  This gave me goosebumps from the first sniff. The brightness of the cranberry and cherry is remarkable against the earthy, volcanic-rocky backbone. Fuck. This is amazing.  Brilliant acidity leads into the intense, dry finish highlighting cranberry and minerals. This wine will destroy your Thanksgiving dinner, and by that I mean it’s perfect. If you’re into Cru Beaujolais, this is a must try. I can see why this area is nicknamed the “Burgundy of the Mediterranean”. Power, complexity, richness and elegance delivered in a light bodied vessel. $24.99

This wine is composed of Nerello Mascalese (roughly 95%) and Nerello Cappuccio (roughly 5%). The estate is located in the northern slopes of the Mount Etna volcano on the island of Sicily, with vineyards between the village of Solicchiata and the town of Randazzo. Sustainably farmed and certified Organic in 2010. Check their website out as you drink this wine. It’s almost as impressive and a good read.  http://www.tenutaterrenere.com
