2014 Montinore Estate Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

Super fragrant with bright raspberry, cherry, cranberry and roses for days.  Luscious red fruits are joined by fine minerals on the fleshy palate. Ripe acidity emerges, carrying the raspberry, cherry and mineral flavors on the zesty finish. Tasty Pinot.

Montinore Estate is a Demeter Certified Biodynamic® and Stellar Certified Organic estate that lies at the northern end of the Willamette Valley. The first time I tasted their Pinot Gris blind I thought it was French. Their wines are pure, clean and beautiful with a sense of place the French refer to as “terroir”.

2013 La Croix Chaptal Le Secret de Gellone Terrasses Du Larzac

Glycerin, tobacco, savory herbs, coffee, a little barnyard and a hint of bacon fat dominate the nose. Blackberry and minerals up front on the palate with gritty tannins and hay notes. This is distinct and rustic. Great, spiking acidity carries you to the savory, dry finish. The “Secret” is the winemaker won’t divulge the specific blend, but it’s Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mouvedré. Tasty.
