2010 Poggio Foco Cecco Cabernet Sauvignon Sovana Rosso

Deep, earthy scents of cassis, blackberry, leather and savory spices. Scents are joined by up front minerals on the chewy, tannin-driven palate. Finishes strong and dry with bright blackberry and gripping tannins carrying through. A substantial, rustic, and damn tasty unoaked Cabernet for under $20.

Sovana is a small town D.O.C. Of Maremma, Tuscany.

2013 Gorman Winery The Devil You Know

This smells of Bordeaux.  Integration and balance.  Leather, earth, blackberry, cassis – sweet herbs and savory spices forming a seamless scent. Luscious power and graceful elegance dance on the palate.  High toned blackberries lead into the dexterous, focused-mineral, dry finish with starbursts of tea and citrus acids carrying it on.  Head-shaking delicious. The first time I’ve tasted this wineries wines and they are profoundly good.  Columbia Valley, Washington. 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 18% Malbec, 6% Petite Verdot & 3% Cab Franc. $34.99
