2012 Kiona Vineyards Red Mountain Lemberger

Black and blue fruits with hints of cocoa and sweet tobacco on the zesty, spicy nose.  Soft and blue on the palate with a fine mineral structure. Black tea and orange-laced acids lead into the juicy, mouthwatering, dry finish. This is really tasty. Bright black/blue fruits delivered in a savory-spicy package. I would compare this to a Loire Valley Chinon (Cabernet Franc). Lemberger is also known as Blaufränkisch (blue Frankish) in Germany, Franconia in Italy and is mainly grown in Washington State, Idaho and the Finger Lakes region in the U.S. $14.99

2011 Tenute Girolamo Monte Tre Carlini Negroamaro Puglia

Blackberry and black cherry with hints of tobacco, anise and smoke on the inviting nose. Dark and lush up front as scent flavors transition to Ceylon tea, fine minerals and soft tannins on the dry finish. This screams for lamb; maybe some roasted beats and white potatoes. Now I’m hungry. Thanks Italy. 😉  $19.99

2013 Mark Ryan Board Track Racer The Shift

I love it when the first smell of a wine gives me goosebumps. I think it speaks to the wines balance, and I know it’s going to be good.  Seamless scents of black fruits, rainwater, minerals, cocoa, smoke and an underlying glycerin; gorgeous. Black and blueberries rush the palate but are checked by crisp minerals and a taught acidity. Toasty espresso and dark chocolate flavors carry into the extravagant, dry finish with orange zest and tea laced minerals lingering.  Fuck, I love Syrah. Cabernet is easy to love; Syrah seduces you. This has 5% Grenache in the blend. Enjoy. And thank you Mike MacMorran for making this beauty. $34.99

2014 Don Manuel Villafañe Legado Malbec

Blackberry, black cherry, plum, black pepper with whifs of volcanic ash, smoke, damp black earth and mushrooms on the nose. This excites me. Juicy crushed black fruits lead to the scent flavors on the palate. Finishes dry and toasty with black tea and crisp minerals joining the black fruits. This is damn tasty Malbec. The fruit is not over-ripe which allows the underlying complexity to shine. A deliciously complex experience for $14.99.
