We’re in for a special treat this tasting: Winemaker Frederic Brouca will be here to pour his delicious Faugeres GSM blend and possibly a few of his other wines. Here is a good article about him: Frederic Brouca
$20 gets you a lot of wine for your money. Friday February 24th in the 6-9pm window we are tasting $20 Bombs: a robust Rosso Di Montalcino, a meaty yet clean French GSM blend, a bold Côtes du Rhone, a meaty Languedoc Mourvèdre, a California Zin/Cab blend and a Napa Valley blend for Cabernet drinkers. This tasting is $20/person. Must be 21 to attend.
75% Saint Jeannet, 25% Chardonnay. Saint Jeannet has its origins in France but there are a few plantings of it in Argentina. Petrol, dirty hay, sea salt, lemon and lime pith on the oily, funky nose. Scents transition to the waxy/oily palate with lemons, strong minerals and lime pith flavors dominating. Zippy acids carry the lime pith and minerals through the dry, mouthwatering finish. A substantial wine for its humble $15 price. Florida got 50 cases of this wine. I bought 8.
Please join us Wednesday March 23rd, 6-8pm for a special night tasting wines from my favorite importer. Thomas Morgan of Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant will be here pouring many of my best French wines: a rustic Bourgueil Cab Franc, a racy Muscadet, a distinct bubbly from Seyssel, a Sauternes, a bold, dark Mourvèdre, a Cahors Malbec, a sexy Côtes-du-Rhone, a mind-blowing Sauvignon Blanc and a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 40 year old vines. The retail value of these wines is over $175. Dan’s amazing cheese board will be here too to help refresh your palate. All cases of wine (any 12 bottles) will be 15% off during the tasting. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of. Email email@example.com indicating how many tickets you would like and I will email you an invoice through Square. It’s super easy and convenient. You can also stop by the store for tickets or call 727-826-0791. Must be 21 to attend.
100% Chardonnay. Bracing chalky minerals, lime, pear and fresh cream scents on the zesty nose. Scents transition to the palate with a lively acidity leading into the creamy, dry, mineral-driven finish. Refreshing and tasty. The balance of Burgundian Chardonnay can’t be matched. $19.99
Smoky, meaty, black cherry, blackberry, rhubarb, cherry skin and a little sweaty sock funk on the nose. Crushed black cherry, orange zest, spice and thyme on the palate with clean mineral and beef blood notes leading into the dry, savory, meaty finish. Syrah has always been one of my favorite red varietals and this one delivers.
Yellow apple, pear, white peach, brisk lemon/lime and chalky mineral scents are enticing. Clean and fresh on the palate; mineral driven with hints of fresh cream joining the scent flavors. Finishes dry with vanilla bean, crisp citrus and chalky minerals lingering. Beautiful, balanced Chardonnay; can’t beat it for $15.
The commune (or village) of Uchizy produces only Chardonnay from its east facing slopes under the Macon appellation in Burgundy, France.
Tasted 10/01/15, just opened. Black cherry, blackberry, dried tobacco and a hint of menthol on the nose. Crushed black fruits and savory spices supported by earthy minerals, tobacco and leather notes on the palate. Finishes dry with brisk acidity and lingering black cherry and mineral flavors. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. $11.99
