2013 Gorman Winery The Devil You Know

This smells of Bordeaux.  Integration and balance.  Leather, earth, blackberry, cassis – sweet herbs and savory spices forming a seamless scent. Luscious power and graceful elegance dance on the palate.  High toned blackberries lead into the dexterous, focused-mineral, dry finish with starbursts of tea and citrus acids carrying it on.  Head-shaking delicious. The first time I’ve tasted this wineries wines and they are profoundly good.  Columbia Valley, Washington. 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 18% Malbec, 6% Petite Verdot & 3% Cab Franc. $34.99

2014 Don Manuel Villafañe Legado Malbec

Blackberry, black cherry, plum, black pepper with whifs of volcanic ash, smoke, damp black earth and mushrooms on the nose. This excites me. Juicy crushed black fruits lead to the scent flavors on the palate. Finishes dry and toasty with black tea and crisp minerals joining the black fruits. This is damn tasty Malbec. The fruit is not over-ripe which allows the underlying complexity to shine. A deliciously complex experience for $14.99.
