2014 Tenuta Delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso

Smoke, volcanic ash, bright cherry, cranberry with a little of the barnyard – manure and hay – on the savory, meaty, mouthwatering nose.  This gave me goosebumps from the first sniff. The brightness of the cranberry and cherry is remarkable against the earthy, volcanic-rocky backbone. Fuck. This is amazing.  Brilliant acidity leads into the intense, dry finish highlighting cranberry and minerals. This wine will destroy your Thanksgiving dinner, and by that I mean it’s perfect. If you’re into Cru Beaujolais, this is a must try. I can see why this area is nicknamed the “Burgundy of the Mediterranean”. Power, complexity, richness and elegance delivered in a light bodied vessel. $24.99

This wine is composed of Nerello Mascalese (roughly 95%) and Nerello Cappuccio (roughly 5%). The estate is located in the northern slopes of the Mount Etna volcano on the island of Sicily, with vineyards between the village of Solicchiata and the town of Randazzo.
