Red Blends – Friday March 3rd, 6-9pm

First Friday, March 3rd, in the 6-9pm window we are tasting Red Blends: a savory Côtes du Rhône, a meaty yet clean French GSM, a South African Pinotage based Bordeaux-styled blend, a super-value Portuguese, a Loire Valley Pinot Noir/Gamay and a big, balanced Napa blend. This tasting is $15/person at the door. Must be 21 to attend.

Pinot Noir & Cabernet, Friday March 10th, 6-9pm
Grand Prix Weekend calls for some fast, curvy reds. Friday March 10th in the 6-9pm window we are tasting Pinot Noir & Cabernet: a racy red Burgundy, a delicious value Oregon Pinot, a bold, heady California Pinot, a 2010 Southern Tuscany Cabernet, a gorgeous French Cab and a suave Paso Robles Cabernet. Bubbly – Friday March 17th, 6-9pm
St. Patrick’s Day at Winesmith is, of course, a sparkling wine tasting. Friday March 17th in the 6-9pm window we are tasting Bubbly: a bone dry, crisp Cava, a refreshing, not-too-sweet Prosecco, a full and lush Cremant de Limoux, a Cabernet based French Rosé, a Pinot Noir based beauty from Tasmania and a rich Pinot Menuier based Champagne. Crisp, Dry Whites – Friday March 24th, 6-9pm
Friday March 24th in the 6-9pm window we are tasting Crisp, Dry Whites: a high-acid Alsatian Riesling, a mineral driven Spanish Verdejo, a serious white Rioja, a rare German Elbling, a dry, finely textured Cava and a bone dry Australian Riesling. Friday March 31st we are tasting wines that rock for $14.99: an impeccably balanced California Petite Syrah, a silky, smoky Tannat from Uruguay, a rustic French Malbec, a killer, unoaked French Cabernet, a big South African blend and a white Rioja that comes close to white Burgundy. Bubbly: Friday February 17th, 6-9pm

Please join us Friday February 17th in the 6-9pm window for the good stuff: a $50 Champagne from Bouzy, a crisp refresher from Alsace, a delicate Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, a funky, yeasty French country sparkler, a Pinot Noir based beauty from Tasmania and a dry rosé from New Mexico. Chef Sean Gwynn, formerly of Twisted Cork Grille and currently providing catering and personal chef services through Creative Craft Cuisine, will be here sampling some of his tasty creations. A field of the prettiest roses you’ve ever smelled in your life, strawberry, glycerin, saddle leather, hay, pencil shavings, dry mustard, toast and fine minerals on the gorgeous, gorgeous nose. I could smell this all day. Scents transition seamlessly to the palate with fresh plum, tobacco leaf, black tea, pepper and spice flavors supporting. Finishes dry, savory, complex and meaty with waves of plum, rare beef, truffle, glycerin, spice and fine minerals.  I haven’t had a wine experience like this in a while, but it’s why I love being in the business.
