Black and blue fruits, mushrooms, copper and dusty clay scents on the yeasty nose. Fucking delicious. Dark and brooding with blackberry, plum, blueberry, hay, copper and light orange tea notes. This wine has a lot going on. Finishes bone dry with black fruits, tea, minerals and hay carrying on for days. Great acidity. Grippy tannins. Great food wine. Charcuterie, yes… but can also stand up against a pork or pot roast or grilled red meats. Serve this with a slight chill. $20
Natural Wine – No sulfites added. Unfiltered. Plums, stewed tomatoes, petrol and dark earth scents on the slightly tart nose. Bold on the palate with black fruits, smoke, cherry skin and bracing minerals. Finishes grippy and dry with slightly tart black fruits and minerals coating the palate. Really delicious. $20
13.1% ABV. For California this is pretty earthy/funky on the floral, expressive nose; blackberry and black cherry scents are fascinating when combined with flaky pie crust, wet moss, light licorice and orange and black tea scents. Pure as fuck, this beauty seamlessly coats the palate with dark, tart cherry, cherry skin, toast, dark earth and blackberry flavors. Finishes dry and crisp with bright acidity carrying the blackberry, pie crust, tea, leather and wet earth flavors. Head-shaking delicious, and the best California wine I’ve tasted in years. Natural wine. Barbera, Grignolino, and Freisa are the varietals. Scents of tart cranberries and cherry skin with the slightest barnyard hay. Dry and grippy on the palate with cranberry, cherry and minerals. Finishes very dry and rustic with the tart red fruits and minerals. Perfect for spicy, cured meats and dry, hard cheeses. $19.99
Prieto Picudo is the varietal. Meaty scents of plum, blackberries, black pepper, spice and coffee. This tastes like you just ate a huge steak and had an espresso after. Soft, lush, yet powerful on the palate with black fruit, coffee and pepper. Finishes meaty, clean and dry with plum and coffee flavors carrying on. Really savory and delicious. Serve with steak. Amazing, bold wine for $13.99.
Hondarrabi Zuri and Gros Manseng are the varietals. Zesty on the nose with lime pith, lime juice, crushed apple, white pepper and chalky minerals. Scents carry through on the slightly effervescent palate with bright lime and apple flavors backed by just a hint of creme fresh. Finishes zippy, dry and clean with lime, apples and minerals lingering. Tasty stuff from the Basque region in Spain. This screams for mussels or your favorite shellfish. $19.99
Refreshing Whites – Friday August 4th, 6-9pm
First Friday, August 4th, in the 6-9pm window we are tasting Refreshing Whites to help beat this heat: a bone dry, crisp Australian Riesling, a zesty Sauvignon Blanc from Uruguay, a dry, citrusy white Rioja, a delicious, floral Alsatian Pinot Blanc, a seafood-craving, Languedoc Picpoul De Pinet and a dry, crisp Alsatian Brut. Chillable Reds – Friday August 11th, 6-9pm
The most popular Friday tasting this year. I’ve had many customers request it so we’re doing it again but with a few new wines. Friday August 11th in the 6-9pm window we will be tasting Chillable Reds: a lovely, rustic Loire Valley Pinot Noir/Gamay blend, a not-to-dry, not-to-sweet, savory Italian Lambrusco, a slightly tart, dry Spanish Trepat, a juicy, easy drinking Argentinian Malbec, a bone-dry, rustic Chilean peasant wine and a 100% Chilean Carignan from a 125 year old, dry farmed vineyard. St. Pete Women’s Collective Benefit Tasting – Wednesday August 16th, 7-9pm
Please join us Wednesday August 16th, 7-9pm for a special wine tasting in benefit for the St. Pete Women’s Collective. Their mission is to empower women through community and creative enrichment in St. Petersburg and the greater Bay area. They focus on women-centered spaces, community collaborations, education, and workshops.
We will be tasting 15 amazing wines plus charcuterie and other tasty bites.
